Embracing
Personal Leadership:
A
Path Of Shared Power
From
the smallest child to the oldest person, each individual is a leader.
Leaders, whether famous or unknown, are mistaken if they
think they are anyone else’s leader. Do not be mistaken. Even if
someone chooses to follow you, it is the leader in them that made the
choice to do so – not the leader in you. We only lead ourselves. Let
us make our leadership choices wisely.
Perhaps
the wisest of leaders are choosing to follow Divine guidance. How are
you making your leadership choices?
I
will share in more detail what I mean by the statements presented above.
My
present belief is that at some level either consciously or unconsciously
we are all in consensus agreement to be interacting with those we
encounter in our journey through life. If we are consciously aware of
the choices we are making then we are acknowledging and acting from our
inherent place of leadership. If this is truly a planet of free will,
then we get to be the leaders of ourselves. We get to look after our own
sovereign space. On the other hand in order to maintain the principals
of free will it means that we do not get to control anyone else. If we
are controlling someone else I would suggest that it is because there is
a conscious or unconscious agreement from both parties.
From
birth many of us are not encouraged to become conscious of our own power
of choice and personal leadership. As long as our personal leadership is
kept at an unconscious level we can be controlled and manipulated by
others. We are continually giving our power away without even knowing
it. Parents, schoolteachers, employers, etc. can take advantage of this.
It is not that they are necessarily keeping us in the dark consciously.
Often it is because they do not know any better themselves.
Until
we become fully conscious of our own right to our life, we can be
constantly looking to outside sources to guide us. We will tend to
follow what sounds best from the outside without developing our own
discerning mind. Discernment and intuition are closely linked. If we
remain cut off from our inner knowing, we also do not develop a strong
sense of who we are at our core. This often shows up as a lack of a
sense of true purpose.
We
may not want to step into our personal leadership, as there can be a
perceived payoff for us in not doing so. As long as we can convince
ourselves that we are a victim to some outside source of leadership and
control, we can avoid taking conscious responsibility for our own
actions. In turn we can try to blame the outside sources for anything
that goes wrong. The old “It is not my responsibility. They made me do
it.”
Of
course just because we do not take conscious responsibility for our life
does not mean that we are not responsible. We are still left with the
life that we have lived whether we led ourselves to it consciously or
unconsciously. The big downside to not owning our own power of personal
leadership is that without it we are very limited. We will feel cut off
from sources of energy and inspiration for creating change for the
better in our lives.
If
someone is not consciously moving towards reclaiming personal leadership
they may well get caught up in reckless rebellion instead. When someone
does not recognize that they are an authority over their own lives they
may well get caught in various levels of authority conflict with outside
authority figures. This is because they are making an unconscious
attempt to recognize their own authority. In their confusion it looks to
them like someone outside has their power and they have to fight with
them to get it back.
Just
because someone is in a titled leadership position does not mean that
they are in touch with true leadership. If they are not in touch with
the clean power of personal leadership they may well try to compensate
for that perceived loss by attempting “power over” tactics. Anyone
that is in a position of authority and thinks that they get to control
others from that position, will likely draw rebellious energy towards
them and get enmeshed in struggling with it. This struggle and counter
struggle radically slows down forward movement. If instead, everyone is
clear on their leadership and is acknowledged and respected for it,
great forward momentum can be accomplished. No matter what the project
or intention, if all the players are in their leadership and consciously
choosing to be part of the project, it creates a huge pool of energy and
talent to draw on. Instead of fighting and wasting energy they are
joining to co-create together.
Once
we really get that we are responsible for creating our own way of
interacting with life, our ability to discern becomes more and more
important. If we have no one else to blame for problems in our lives we
better get more skilled at making the most appropriate decisions
possible.
Being
our own leader does not mean that we do not look outside of ourselves
for information. We can collect information from outside sources, from
our cognitive awareness of past experiences, from our emotional
intelligence, from our physical senses, and from our intuitive access to
spiritual guidance. We can then use our discernment to make choices from
all this input.
The more we practice this process, the better we get at it,
and the deeper we build the foundation of trust in our own leadership.
A person that lives from a place of conscious leadership will
appear to be more powerful in a peaceful way. It is not that they are
more powerful; we all have equal potential to tap into the power of
Universal LifeForce. It is that they have chosen to tap into that power
and focus it in a constructive way.
Because a person is not aware of their access to leadership
and power does not mean that they are not powerful, but it does mean
that their power may not be focused. In fact it may be working against
itself. If the mind is split and unfocussed, a person can be running two
apposing thought patterns at the same time. For instance a person could
be feeling drawn to go and talk to someone that they do not know, but at
the same time they could be running an old tape that says that it is
dangerous to talk to strangers. The two views just burn up energy
neutralizing each other and nothing is accomplished.
The more we own and practice using our personal leadership
the less we will get seduced into pitting power against power, whether
it be in our own minds or in a struggle against someone else.
If there are differences to be sorted out, in our minds or
with others, we work together to sort things out, recognizing that both
sides can be on the same team. When
we recognize that power is always available through Universal LifeForce
it is clear that there is no scarcity, and so power does not have to be
competed for.
